Lithium Battery Storage Fire Protection

Fire Gas and Smoke Detection System (FGSDS)

T And B Fire Gas And Smoke Detection System Fgsds

As lithium-ion battery use spreads, safe storage has heightened importance – facilities small and large face fire risks should thermal runaway occur. This warrants solutions tailored specifically to mitigate such dangers. Our new T and B Fire, Gas and Smoke Detection system fulfills this need for smaller-scale storage sites. By integrating early warning technology with rapid alert triggers and response protocols, it provides robust safeguards to contain possible incidents.

Specifications

  • FGSDS is a unique combination of conventional smoke aspiration system and fire gas detector.
  • The central smoke detector actively sucks air from the protected object feeding it to the detector.
  • The fire gas detector detects nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen – these gases are produced at early stages of a combustion process before substantial heat or smoke is developed.
  • The FGSDS is installed outside the warehouse, minimizing the use of multiple detectors for the entire interior.
  • The system offers relay contacts to forward alarms, faults, and operating status to a fire alarm panel.
  • Two alarm thresholds (pre-alarm and main alarm) can be set, corresponding to safety specifications.

Common Applications

  • For the safe storage of lithium-ion batteries, used by manufacturers and recycling facilities around the world.
  • FGSDS detects potential gas and aerosol leaks from pre-damaged batteries in storage; these leaks are often the early warning sign of impending battery combustion or oxidation.
  • FGSDS introduces a smart, lightweight installation solution that doesn’t require technology set up in the danger zone. The system design allows for efficient lithium storage monitoring in small warehouses.
  • Upon agreement between the customer and property insurer, different responses may be made to the FGSDS early alarm, including moving the storage, alerting the fire brigade, or activating an extinguishing system.
