Delta-Tubes – Averaging Pitot Tubes

Mid-West Instrument – Delta Tubes – Averaging Pitot Tubes – Flow Rate Sensors

The Delta Tube ® is a low cost, low maintenance, high accuracy flow sensor for use on steam, gas and liquid flow applications. Manufactured based on proven design of Mid-West, USA, these are rugged in construction, and simple to install. The flow sensor is a multi-ported averaging pitot tube which spans the entire flow profile and produces differential pressure which has square root relationship with flow rate. Based on pipe or duct size the Delta Tube is constructed so that strategically located sensing ports continually sample the impact and static pressures produced by the Delta tube’s obstruction of the flow stream profile. Within the probe the impact pressures sensed by the upstream are continually averaged in an isolated plenum chamber. Similarly the static pressures sensed by the downstream ports are averaged in a second isolated plenum chamber. All conventional secondary instruments can be used for direct measurement, or transmission of the differential pressure produced by the Delta Tube which is proportional to square of flow rate.

300

Delta Tube / Averaging Pitot Tube – Flow Rate Sensor – Model 300

The Model 300 is an in-line series with built-in Delta tubes which can be directly screwed, or welded or connected through flange to the existing flow line. These are suitable for line sizes ranging from ½” to a maximum of 3″.

Delta Tube / Averaging Pitot Tube – Flow Rate Sensor – Model 301 & Model 302

The Models 301 and 302 are direct insert type Delta Tubes which can be directly screwed on to the thread-o-let welded on the pipe. These are suitable for line sizes ranging from 3″ to 36″ as standard. For higher line sizes please consult factory. Material of construction of probe and head is 316 SS as standard. Attaching hardware can be either of CS or 316SS.

Delta Tube / Averaging Pitot Tube – Flow Rate Sensor – Model 307 & Model 308

The Models 307 and 308 are direct insert type suitable for mounting on square or rectangular or round ducts with duct size / pipe diameters ranging from 6″ to 72″ as standard. Special Delta Tubes to suit higher sizes up to 144″ are also available on request. Material of construction for probe, head, and attaching hardware is 316 SS on Models 307 and 308.

Delta Tube / Averaging Pitot Tube – Flow Rate Sensor – Models 311, 321, 331 & 312, 322, 332

The Models 311, 312, 321, 322, 331, & 332 are wet tap type with insert-retract facility having threaded ball valves and threaded fittings so that it can be directly screwed on to the thread-o-let provided on the pipe. Models 311 and 312 are low pressure versions in which insertion and removal of probe is effected by hand and models 321, 322, 331 & 332 are high pressure versions and are provided with insert retract rods for probe insertion and removal. These models can be inserted or removed from the flow line without process shut down. The models 311, 321, 331 are suitable for line sizes ranging from 3″ to 24″ while the models 312, 322, 332 are suitable for line sizes ranging from 3″ to 60″ as standard. For higher sizes please contact CMC.

Delta Tube / Averaging Pitot Tube – Flow Rate Sensor – Model 323

The Model 323 is a wet tap type Delta Tube with retractable facility having flanged connections so that these can be directly welded on to the weld-o-let provided on the pipe. This Delta Tube can be inserted or retracted without process shutdown. These are suitable for line sizes ranging from 14″ to a maximum of 72″ as standard. For higher line sizes please contact us. Material of construction for probe is 316 SS as standard. Attaching hardware can be of either CS or 316SS.

Delta Tube / Averaging Pitot Tube – Flow Rate Sensor – Models 341, 342, 343

The Models 341, 342, and 343 are flange mounted type Delta Tubes suitable for line sizes ranging from 3″ to 72″ as standard. Delta Tubes for higher line sizes are also available as specials on request. Material of construction of probe and head is 316 SS as standard. Attaching hardware can be either of CS or 316SS. These are installed on the flow line by directly welding the mounting flange on the weld-o-let provided on the pipe. Either single support type or double support types are available to handle wide range of flow.

SKI – SDF Sensor – Averaging Pitot Tubes – Gases, Liquids & Steam

SDF-Sensors are using the averaging pitot tube technology and can be used wherever flow rates of gases or liquids are to be measured. They have been proven in practice to be reliable, stable and accurate for more than 25 years.

SDF-Sensors for steam probes are used wherever flow or heat quantity of superheated or satured steam is to be measured. They have been proven in practice to be reliable, stable and accurate for more than 25 years.

Due to the robust technology and the simple principle of measurement averaging pitot tubes  can be used in many different ways even under difficult conditions and offer considerable advantages over other measuring technology from easy installation to long-term measuring stability.

Further special advantages are the possibilities of bidirectional flow measurement as well as the integration of temperature and pressure measurement.
